What are Tajweed and Qira’at?
The science of reciting the Quran is called tajweed. It’s based on the rules set by companions of the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and scholars of Islam.
Tajweed is a set of rules that are used to recite the Quran. These rules are necessary to apply while reciting the holy Quran for all Muslims, regardless of their level of knowledge or proficiency in reading
Recitation of the holy Quran (Qira’at) is a way of reciting the holy Quran in a melodious tone. The reciter attempts to recite as much as possible without interruption and goes over each letter with care. The recitation should be done slowly and carefully so that it can be heard by everyone present at each session.

If a person is struggling to recite the Quran properly, but he’s still making mistakes, in Sahih Muslim where Ayesha RA, she narrated that the prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, said the one who recites the Quran and while he is proficient in its recitation will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (of course this is referring to the angels) and the one who recites the Quran while it is difficult for him to recite, will have double the reward.
This is Allah SWT encouraging the person who is struggling. Encouraging the person who is finding it hard and was trying hard, Allah will give them double the reward.
When it comes to reciting the Quran and the reason for that is because clarity is very important. The slightest of changes in the Quran will make the biggest of differences, this is when things become highly problematic and this is not something that we want to fall into, we’re going to start changing the verses of Allah which is something we definitely do not want to do.
Surah Muzammil ayah number 73 It is explained in Tafsir ibn e Kathir ” recites slowly making the letters clear for this as assistance for understanding and pondering the meaning of the Quran.” By reciting the Quran with its Tajweed with Tarteel we will achieve understanding and pondering on the meanings of the Quran.
Surah Furqan verse 32, Ibn e Abbas says in explanation, that this is talking about making it clear the speech of Allah, now there are so many evidence here for Tajweed, too much evidence here to be continuously speaking about how the importance of Tajweed and why we must recite the Quran with Tajweed.
